Georgianna Lamb
·

A 64 year
old one-time social worker, police intern, and former hypnotherapist who worked
for the County at the juvenile center, Lamb knew the Golins through a casual
business relationship during a time when she had her own independent sign shop
when the Golins had their neon shop.
·
The parents got Lamb appointed temporary conservator by Judge Hon. Gregory
Ward on October 15, 2002, as a proxy stand-in to prevent the state from getting
Nancy while the parents got their false criminal charges dismissed, which
occurred on January 29, 2003. Lamb was
the only alternate candidate available at the time. Through her it was possible
to expose some of the abuse that had occurred in secret during the period since
Nancy Golin was removed by the state without legal authority and placed in
hiding, for which the Golins were initially grateful, but as soon as she gained
power she proved to be a Trojan horse, a fatal error. Increasingly she demonstrated fear of SARC and became co-opted by
them, and ended up working terrible harms against Nancy’s best interests even
when she clearly knew better, making it inevitable that the state would get
Nancy permanently in the end. Her actions
no longer conform to her words.
·
Miss
Lamb is depicted as a heroine in Hasan’s article and Nancy’s advocate even though in
fact she hypocritically knew of these abuses, and concealed and protected the
location of witness Lynne Gelle, who first fled to Canada during
discovery phase and returned to work for SARC at another undisclosed care
home, from testifying in
Nancy’s defense at the court two years ago because she would have
“hanged” Miss Lamb, and Lamb herself kept Nancy at Embee Manor saying it
was the best placement possible, even after the Gallagher probate court ordered
her to petition to have Nancy moved to a safer place!
·
Miss
Lamb has never had children or been married and has never had to make any hard
responsible parenting decisions about childrearing never mind the much harder
job of raising a handicapped child, which frees her to be a disgruntled gadfly
making hypocritical wisecracks about others, demonstrating strong sociopathic traits.
·
Lamb
admitted to the Golins to a mental history of attempted suicide, but details are sparse and are
not yet confirmed, and it is not known if there were any hospitalizations
associated with this (See below). Did Nancy Johnson at SARC
know this when she agreed to appoint Lamb as Nancy’s “Advocate” in exchange for
Lamb’s withdrawing her conservatorship bid during trial, letting Lamb take
Nancy to doctors and dentists without supervision even to this day, as if Nancy
were her daughter?
·
Lamb
is a crime buff who avidly watches the daily progress of high-profile trials and prosecutions,
reading the National Enquirer and never missing a single day, and has
enthusiastically stated to the parents that one of her fondest dreams is to be
a key witness in one such high–profile trial thus basking in the limelight of
public attention. She unfailingly
favors the State in her conclusions about such
proceedings and rationalizes doubts about inconvenient evidence that
does not fit the State’s case, just as she did in the present case. Her unfailing presumption in these cases is
that the State is always right, that justice is usually fair, and unjust
convictions are very uncommon. Yet, inconsistently,
she boasts of having helped local victims of injustice in the past, but when
pressed admits they have all ended up losing.
·
Lamb has committed serious frauds, in addition to
this one. In 2003, Lamb casually bragged to the parents that
she had “forged a couple of wills”. The
tone of the comment was meant to show how clever she apparently felt, but the parents
were shocked. To Lamb, it apparently was
no big deal. Lamb apparently had cut
her half sister out of her share of her father’s estate. She has made similar
revelations to show how she got the better of people that got in her way or
were threatening her professed social status.
·
When
told the parents’ charges were dropped on January 28, 2003, she sounded shocked
and disappointed to Mrs. Golin on the telephone even though she knew the
parents were innocent of any wrongdoing.
Mrs. Golin waned to take Nancy immediately to a dentist now that the
non-contact orders were dissolved to get her neglected teeth taken care of and
asked Lamb to let her to it. Lamb
heatedly replied that she wouldn’t allow it.
Then two days before the probate hearing she met secretly with public
defender Malorie Street who was appointed Nancy’s faux-attorney by the court,
and lobbied to be Nancy’s permanent conservator despite the parents’ own
petition, and then denied doing so to them.
She secretly concocted scurrilous fabrications that, according to her
own declarations she knew were untrue, and rumored them to Street and the
opposing side, who then had to hastily withdraw them when found to be malicious
and unfounded. Nevertheless, they were
stated and memorialized in the February 4, 2003 transcripts. Lamb thus got her trial and her cherished
spotlight after all. After this secret
meeting, Lamb thought she had Street’s support but did not realize that the
State does not tolerate any conservator that does not toe their line and was
shocked when Street double-crossed her at the 2/4/03 hearing and advocated for
the State to conserve Nancy after all. This resulted in the parents having to
go to trial in probate even though all criminal charges had been dropped.
·
Lamb
despite her firm denials has a deep prejudice against developmentally disabled
people and pro-institutional bias. Anyone
that does not fit the “norms of social behavior” meets with Lamb’s
approbation. She privately calls
developmentally disabled people “dweebs”. She once blurted out to the parents at a restaurant that they
“have no regard for the feelings of others, having inflicted and shoved
Nancy down people’s throats for years”. Nancy has always lived in the
community with her parents.
·
She snobbily referred to the family as
“street people” inferring they were hippies and trying to imply they were
possibly mentally ill. What most people
don’t realize is that she implies that everyone she knows is mentally
ill, however. The parents thought she couldn’t be serious. The parents have
never been found to have any sort of mental illness whatever, nor do they have
any history of drugs or alcohol.
·
When
the parents tried to report these same abuses two years ago to State Licensing,
which here she is claiming credit in Hasan’s article for doing, she
unbelievably belittled the parents for “tattling”, her exact word which
she repeated when challenged, and then sided with Embee barring them from
entering Nancy’s group home in retaliation, saying the parents had threatened
Nancy with eviction from “her home”.
·
Lamb boasted that at Embee, Nancy was “safe” because
she supposedly was never allowed to wander away, the thing that the parents
were pilloried for doing one time. To
“prove” that this was so, she gave the parents a report from Embee that she
thought showed that Nancy had wandered away only two times. But Lamb had unfortunately not read it very
carefully, because it actually showed that Nancy wandered away two times in only one month, September 2002. This was a
month-by-month breakdown of the number of times that Nancy had wandered away or
been AWOL, probably in search for her parents and a deep desire to get
away. What it actually showed was that
the first month Nancy had wandered away 25 times, and so on for a grand
total of 138 times in one year! This
was the smoking gun of inadequate supervision at Embee that demonstrated
that the parents’ performance was great by comparison. Of course, at the end of
the 14-month prosecution phase, the only thing the DA could find to blame the
parents with was one instance of “allowing” Nancy to wander away, on
November 14, 2005, and that sole ground was ultimately dismissed. Nobody prosecuted the group home operators
for even one instance of letting Nancy wander away. In state care everything is
presumed to be perfect and if not the evidence is covered up by the State. Lamb
was chagrined yet she still would not move Nancy away. Because of insurance regulations at Embee,
the house could not lock the front door to prevent escapes. Lamb has an alibi for everything. Lamb said,
“no idiot would ever believe that Nancy actually wandered off that many times”,
“if you believe that you must be crazy”. So Lamb concocted the absurd explanation
that at Embee, “wandering” really meant “wandering around the house”, and
“AWOL” really meant “approaching a door leading to the outside”, and then
belittled the parents credibility for failing to understand such a
simple concept. She then got aide Gelle to play along with this game and SARC
attorney Nancy J Johnson got Gelle to sign an affidavit to that effect. Lamb brushed aside the logical inference
that if that were true someone would have had to be following Nancy around “her
own home” to see how many times she wandered from room to room, and if that
were true in some months she would have to be constrained to only wander around
the house twice or four times. SARC’s
Kinderlehrer apparently was not about to play the fool when she testified however,
saying she “didn’t agree with Gelle’s definition of wandering”. In addition, house psychologist Mary Lynne
Weber herself scoffed at this idea, saying that “AWOL is exactly what it sounds
like, absent without leave”. Yet, Judge Martin bashed the Golins for
“inadequate supervision” anyway and exonerated the state by refusing to admit
this evidence of wandering at Embee.
·
When the state asked SARC to come up with an
explanation of Nancy’s broken collarbone, Lamb provided the perfect excuse to
let Embee off the hook. She searched in
the Stanford medical records to find a note that Nancy had fallen out of a wheelchair
back in November 2001. No such injury
or evidence of pain or handicap was reported by the staff. Nancy was reported
as climbing into the beds of other patients, which would have required the use
of her left arm and shoulder. “There it is!” Lamb declared! “That’s when it happened!” This did not agree with expert orthopedist
Nguyen’s time estimation of May to July 2003 at all, but everyone rushed to
embrace Lamb’s non-expert “finding” which contradicted the orthopedist’s
report, including Judge Martin who cited Lamb’s explanation as the supposed
reason (hardly the “best evidence”). Problem solved! How helpful! Therefore Nancy stayed at Embee despite the
discovery of a broken collarbone and Nguyen’s sworn opinion that “a pattern of
orthopedic injuries has occurred which is likely to continue [if Nancy is not
removed]” from Embee. Is this in
Nancy’s best interests, or Lamb’s?
·
Miss
Lamb aspired to be Nancy’s guardian ad litem in a high-dollar liability
lawsuit, and secretly undermined every effort the parents made to help save
Nancy that she found out about, including with the parents’ lawyers, volunteers
and competing advocates. Even though
she claims that she is interested in protecting Nancy from state abuse, she did
everything she could to keep her in harms way.
When Lamb had an opportunity to move her from Embee she refused to do
it, saying she feared more-powerful SARC retaliation far more than the parents
displeasure even though it was harming Nancy.
Lamb staunchly defended Embee with preposterous alibis to the terrified
parents even after it was proven that Nancy had suffered terrible injuries there.
(Two years later, she told a different story in Hasan’s article.) She told Mrs.
Golin with amazing candor when Mrs. Golin complained that she was not removing
Nancy from a proven unsafe environment (Embee), “if it came to a choice between
protecting myself and protecting Nancy, who do you think I’m going to choose?”
[Herself.] Any parent would have unhesitatingly answered that question, “Nancy,
of course!” There lies the difference between a real mother and a mere advocate
in a nutshell!
·
Lamb
claims she lacked the power to move Nancy while she was temporary conservator,
but in fact Lamb was ordered by Judge Gallagher to seek permission to move
Nancy away from Embee to safety after her broken collarbone and dislocated
shoulder was discovered, but Lamb declined, telling the parents, “I have no solution
for that”, and later saying “you just know that wouldn’t happen again in a
million years”. (Why would any prudent person take that chance?) Later records show Nancy’s shoulder was
dislocated and she was seen at an ER for a skull fracture and broken femur, and
the emergency hospitalization for the esophageal injuries due to the drugging
occurred (see Nancy’s
present condition). All the while
Lamb kept up the pretense of helping the parents, claiming that she was playing
middleman with SARC, and the unsuspecting parents gritted their teeth and put
up with her.
·
Lamb has a crank amateur abnormal psychiatric
diagnosis for every person she knows, except of course herself, and she believes
valid every diagnostic psychiatric condition listed in the DSM. She quipped to
Mrs. Golin during the trial after Dr. Duc Nguyen, the orthopedic expert,
appeared, that Dr. Nguyen was “the highest functioning Asperger’s that she
knew”, even though she had never met him and knew nothing whatever about
him. Being eccentric, a non-conformist,
artist or otherwise gifted person is usually enough to spur Lamb to one of her
usual psychiatric pronouncements, claiming, "it raises a red flag”. She constantly
tells all her friends that her mother “is completely nuts”, and that her father
“was totally nuts” when he went into “ casa de fruta” as she calls it, the
nursing home where he died. Being called “nuts” by Lamb is not very unusual.
·
When
Nancy had a seizure on Lamb’s living room sofa during a January 5, 2003
supervised visit at Lamb’s East San Jose house, and it appeared that Nancy had
to go immediately to the hospital to have her levels checked, Lamb inexplicably
flew into a violent rage refusing to let the parents take her to the ER while
she was in the throes of seizures, screaming to the parents that this was why
they were where they were, because they took her to too many doctors and to the
ER instead of regularly scheduled clinic appointments, completely inappropriate
when an epileptic is having seizures. (Lamb was at this time still temporary
conservator and sole visit supervisor, be4cause the parents had supported her
as proxy conservator during the interim period while their criminal charges
were being dismissed.) Lamb went ballistic storming around her house violently
whacking the walls and furniture right next to the parents, barely missing
them, with a large cardboard tube and throwing her keys at the speechless
parents for half an hour, screaming that she did not want to have anything to
do with them and did not want to go to the hospital with them, completely out
of control. Her mother was terrified and cried and begged her to stop, pleading
with her to “just give them back their daughter, this isn’t worth it”. This lasted 20 minutes with the Golins in
shocked disbelief. Finally, after Nancy had another seizure Miss Lamb relented
and Nancy was taken to the hospital ER by the parents accompanied by Lamb,
after Lamb checked with a doctor herself and was advised to do just as the
parents told her she must do. Lamb never quite explained her behavior.
·
Once
the parents got to Good Samaritan Hospital ER in Campbell, CA and started to
check her in, the situation got even wilder.
While they stood behind the admitting nurse, Mrs. Golin gave her Nancy’s
Social Security Number and she entered it into the computer. To the best of the parents knowledge, nobody
had ever taken Nancy to this hospital before.
Yet there suddenly was all of Nancy[s information displayed, including a
reference to a previous visit three months earlier on 9/15/02. What was this all about? Why was Nancy taken there on that date? The parents had received full discovery of
her records up to that date from the DA’s office, but there was nothing from
Good Samaritan. (At this time the State was still pretending that Nancy’s
seizures were under control under their care and not releasing any information
to the contrary, when it clearly was just the opposite.) On the information was Nancy’s date of
birth, her address at Embee Manor, with Edna Mantilla the group home owner
listed as the next of kin, and the person to contact as the social worker from
San Andreas Regional Center. The parents
were listed as well as living at the group home, too! All inquiries were directed back to the Regional Center or its
employees so that no one could access these records. The parents were astounded and wanted to know what happened on
that date, a Sunday so that this could not have been a clinic visit that was
cancelled or anything like that. Jeff
Golin went out to the lobby and excitedly confided to Lamb about this amazing
information. He told no one else and
then went back into the ER and pressed the on-duty doctor to pull up the records
of this past visit. After a few phone
calls by Lamb on her cell in the lobby, the records disappeared completely
from the computer and were never uncovered!\\sd The admitting nurse told her management, “I know I saw it!” when
the parents returned the next day and went to Records. The records nurse made a few phone calls and
the parents heard her say to someone, “There here! There not going away without
it!” Lamb as usual excoriated the
parents the next day on the phone claiming they were being disruptive at the
hospital and that she was getting calls from everyone claiming they were scared
of the parents behavior and criticizing them for being too persistent.
·
On
the basis of this history of Lamb’s self-serving dissembling and covering-up,
the question remains open regarding Hasan’s article: Was it really SARC that gave the
orders for Nancy to be denied medical care when she was lying on the floor
after her 12th seizure turning blue from hypoxia, in order to cover
up inadequate medical care, or was it actually Lamb herself, during the period
of her temporary conservatorship? Is
she merely whitewashing her own liability? Could Gelle have really “hung” Lamb
herself, explaining why Lamb hid Gelle’s whereabouts and opposed the parents’
efforts at discovery? Her claims should not necessarily be taken at face value,
and this has not been investigated. The article never says exactly when this
incident occurred. Given Lamb’s
behavior later, when the parents were present and Lamb refused to take Nancy to
an ER (above), acting on the belief that Nancy should always be taken to
regularly scheduled clinic visits rather than dealing with it as an emergency,
perhaps Lamb is the one that gave these orders, and perhaps this article is
designed to deflect her own liability.
That would not be atypical for her behavior.
·
Through
Lamb’s persistent malicious subverting of Nancy’s parents’ efforts to return
Nancy to her home dragging out for years and continuing to the present, the
Golins who were originally well-off financially due to Mrs. Golin’s recent
modest inheritance from her father, money earmarked for Nancy’s future, were
virtually bankrupted to the point where the parents ended up having to
borrow money from Lamb, after parents spent thousands on Lamb’s legal
fees, then she complained that she was suffering personally because she claimed
the parents still owed her money. When the parents hired her an attorney, she immediately became
adversarial to the Golins, and at one point told them only two weeks after she
was appointed, “have your attorney call my attorney” and then hung up. The parents were asked to give her attorney
$1,000 in order to start a federal lawsuit when she was appointed, which they
did, and were asked to give him more.
The attorney decided not to pursue the lawsuit at Lamb’s request, but
instead of giving back the money, he kept it and claimed he was applying it to
Lamb’s bill, which he never accounted for, and Lamb defended him for doing it.
In fact, Lamb owns a house estimated to be worth $1M in the east San Jose
foothills and could afford to pay for her own attorneys and medical care if she
chose to.
·
As
some indication of how good a caregiver Lamb herself was, when Lamb’s mother
Lillian had a dental appointment to have some of her teeth removed, the dentist
unwittingly let the anesthetic wear off.
Yet, the dentist continued removing Lillian’s teeth while she screamed
in agony from the pain and the dentist held her down by the arms so hard it
caused her bruises on her wrists. Lamb
sat in the waiting room listening to her mother scream, too embarrassed to make
waves, go in, see what was happening, and make this stop. Lillian Lamb wanted to go to another dentist
after being traumatized. Nevertheless,
Lamb merely took her mother back to the same dentist again, afraid of bucking
the system, where this incident happened again.
·
Lamb
chose Dr. Masada as Nancy’s doctor when she became proxy conservator. She allowed him to secretly prescribe the
psychotropic drug Zyprexa for Nancy even though Nancy had a pre-existing
seizure condition, without letting the parents know she was doing it, even
though when Masada, a proven polypharmacist that never knew a drug he didn’t
like, previously gave her mother Lillian the same type of drugs to take. Lamb knew full well the terrible side
effects of these drugs, threw them in the trash, and wouldn’t let her own
mother take them. She even provided
the parents with medical advisories showing the awful potential side effects of
these drugs. Yet, she let him prescribe it for Nancy, after having initially
removed her from them.
·
Lamb claims to have known Nancy and
the family for a long time and claims to have Nancy’s best interests at heart,
but this is flimsy and highly doubtful at best. Nancy met Lamb, accompanied by Mrs. Golin, a few times in 1992-3
and then had no contact with her for years, until the present episode. Nancy has no emotional bond with her at all,
and absolutely no maternal instinct. Lamb did more to make sure Nancy was
conserved by the state than anyone else, even though she said to the court that
she herself “could think of nothing more dismal than being owned by the State
of California”. All the while, she pretended
to be friendly and supportive to Nancy’s parents. Yet, the unsuspecting parents
gritted their teeth and put up with this for two years. The total inconsistency
between her words and her actions completely negates her credibility.
·
During
trial, Lamb’s withdrew her conservatorship bid under a settlement agreement
with SARC under threat of exposure and attack by San Andreas Regional Center
undermining the parents bid to conserve Nancy, getting a “special status”
agreement in return that gives her privileges that even supercedes the
parents. Lamb is not required by the Regional
Center, for example, to have supervised visits with Nancy, with whom she has
never had any real relationship or bond. However, she hardly ever bothered to
take time to visit Nancy at Embee or Talla, doing everything by phone.
·
With
Miss Lamb, SARC can claim the window-dressing that someone is watching over
their shoulders as Nancy’s advocate so Nancy’s rights are supposedly being
protected. This is more of the same
cover-up and whitewash, Lamb becoming SARC’s official toothless watchdog. Employing Miss Lamb as Nancy’s so-called advocate
while ignoring her parents is equivalent to calling in the company union in the
middle of a labor dispute!
·
At
the end of 2003 the parents finally cut off all relations with Lamb, concluding
far too late that she was sabotaging their efforts at every turn for an
extended period and would not stop no matter how much they appealed to whatever
reason she possesses. Some have criticized the Golins for being ungrateful to
Lamb for the things she did to support them, that were far outweighed by the
harm she did. We hope that after reading this those that say this will
understand now. Lamb is unique. She stands alone as the sole volunteer whose
efforts the Golins will not appreciate.
Everyone else that has contributed to the parents’ efforts in even the
smallest ways has been shown the greatest gratitude possible.
·
TO
SUM UP: The
total picture she presents is that of a jealous single, childless, elderly woman,
jealous of other women that are married or have children, and especially
jealous of Mrs. Golin, seriously deranged, glib and sarcastic, fraudulent, the
nosy neighbor from hell, with a mean
streak she expresses by slandering and defaming those that are different, are
artistic or creative, have handicaps, or have special talents that set them
apart from the “social norms”, all behind their backs, while she pretends to be
friendly. She plays hardball at the
game of “high school popularity contest”, where she sees herself as the leader
of the her social clique who decides who is a member of the in-group, and who
has friends, or who gets ostracized. She has never, it seems, outgrown that
time of her life when she claims she was the leader of her high school sorority
and a bully. People like the Golins are natural targets for her. This power
game may best be expressed by, “Everybody likes me, but nobody likes you”. She will not tolerate anyone going outside
her circle, without making obsessive efforts to lure them in, or attacking
them. She has seriously slandered the parents of Nancy with wild concocted
rumors and fabrications and may be at the core of what happened to Nancy Golin.
